Year 6's Severn Valley Railway Experience

26 June 2017

On Monday 26th June Year 6 travelled by train to Kidderminster station where they had the opportunity to experience what life was like for a child during World War II. To enhance the experience all the children dressed in World War II costume.

On arrival at the station the children were met by wartime re-enactors who talked about the various displays and how the artefacts were used during the war. The displays included a wartime house, an Andersen shelter and a Morrison shelter.

The children then boarded a steam train to Highley where they participated in other activities at the Engine House. During the train journey the children sang traditional wartime songs.

The children had a really thought provoking experience.
