Year 6 Visit the Black Country Museum

8 November 2011

On 8th November Year 6 visited the Black Country Museum in Dudley. For the whole day they stepped back in time to the Victorian era and learned from the guides what life was like during that period and how people lived and worked.

They visited houses, shops (their favourite being the sweet shop), the bakery, the horse brass work shop, the chain maker and much more. They were also treated to a lesson in the school room and learnt that school was much different to how it is today. Finally, they went down the mine and saw how difficult life was for the workers in the mine.

As always the children were commended for their excellent behaviour and on the interesting questions they asked and the knowledge they already had.

A very informative day was had which will help the children with their topic work this term and make it more realistic for them.
