A Visit to Birmingham Library

8 October 2013

On Tuesday 8th October a group of Year 6 pupils went to visit the new Library of Birmingham.

During the visit they were given a tour of the whole library including the children's section where they were allowed to choose a book and sit on the bean bags, bucket seats or on the steps in a very relaxed atmosphere.

They went to the very top of the building in the glass elevator where the secret garden is and into the Shakespeare building. This particular part of the library was taken from the old library and the top of the new library built around it. It is a stark contrast to the very modern new library but appropriate for the books housed there.

The children were impeccably behaved and really enjoyed their time there as they wanted to stay longer.
